Hotel Taboga
Unfortunately, it no longer exists; it’s been torn down over the last couple of years. I last saw this very propeller laying on Naos Island on the Causeway.

The first time I visited Taboga Island was in about 1951 when I was stationed at Fort Kobbe. I stayed at the Chu Hotel.
I just loved the place.
The last time I stayed at the Chu was in 1994 when I drove the Pan American highway -CA-1 – from KC. My wife flew into San Jose and we drove to Panama together.
When we caught the launch to Taboga, I thought my memory was playing tricks – the pier was not near the Chu as I remembered it. We were later told that they had built a new pier.
We stayed at the Chu. The rate in 1994 was $16. Nothing had changed – including Chu himself. We had to walk down the hall to the bathroom. But both of us had fond memories.
The above says that the Hotel Taboga no longer exists – how about the Chu?
Also, the reason I looked up Taboga is I want to find out the population. And, any other info you can give me about one of my favorite places in the world.
Kindest regards,
Bill Emerson
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Taboga. The Chu used to be a great place to stay overnight. Unfortunately, it no longer works as a hotel. Going into San Pedro there’s the Tropical, and farther dow, Cerritos. The old Hotel Taboga has been completely demolished. I’m not sure what’s next.
