Thanks for stopping by, Sue, and leaving a message. Cafe Duran is my favorite coffee in Panama. I see at their website they are out of stock for shipping, but there is no shortage in Panama. I would recommend contacting them through one of the web forms on their site.

Our family use to live in Panama many years ago in the late 60's and 70's. Having lived there aquainted us with all the brands that Panama had to offer and that being Duran coffee.

Went back to visit and brought some back to share. Lately, there is no reply from Duran to ship out some.

Do you have any recent information as to where we may buy some Cafe` Duran ?

Sincerely,

Sue Inman

Shane, that was my company. I was the RTO in 1st platoon. I remember the night overlooking the Engineer Compound. Spooky stuff seeing a man get killed for the first time.

I remember the coup attempt well. I was with the 59th sapper company and assigned to Aco 5/87 Jaguars. It seems we were pretty close to the action that day. I remember hearing the gunfire and thinking to myself "Who would be on the range today?" It was then I realized the sound was coming from the other direction. People who weren't there don't really understand a "low intensity" conflict.

Thanks for stopping by, Collin. You're right--someone that wasn't there would have a hard time understanding. Panama has changed a bit, but old memories still come up. Hopefully things will change for the better...

It brings back memories, I was assigned to Ft. Kobbe a couple of weeks after the October 3 coup. The operation was my first combat experience and it was was intense, more so than my time in the desert (there were a lot more bullets that flew pass my head during that month than my desert time). The strange thing is I still fell in love with that country and went back several years later to spent some time there in the culture and with the people. The normal person just wouldn't understand. Beautiful place, still a paradise in my mind.

Time seems to fly by...and in Panama there was a time where we wanted that freedom bird to get back home. I've tried to tell a story or two, but unless it's a vet, or someone related to a vet, they just won't understand it.

Noriega is back in Panama and Danny Ortega is President of Nicaragua. Some things haven't changed after all these years.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for stopping by the website, Gordon. If you were packing chutes between 77 and 79, then you and your crew packed some of mine and those of my men. Thank you. Water jumps were fun, but I never jumped on Pipe. We jumped on Veracruz quite a bit, Gatun for training and Jumpmaster School with 7th SFG, and Rio Hato in the interior.

It is a small world the more you travel. Actually, my uncle is a veterinarian for race horses in the Dallas--Ft. Worth area.
